Operating the Citation 5.0
After installing and conŢguring the Citation 5.0, and making any desired initial settings, normal
operation is a simple matter, thanks to its powerful microprocessor and a sophisticated remote con-
trol that allows most changes to be accomplished by pressing one button. Please note, however, that
due to the large number of functions and features controlled by the system microprocessor, there will
occasionally be slight delays in executing commands you have given it, not unlike those experienced
when using a computer.
Turning On and Off
The Master Power button 1 should remain in the ON position under normal circumstances.
Simply press it in until you hear a click, and release. A green Standby LED6 will illuminate,
indicating the 5.0 is in its Standby mode, and is ready to operate.
Operating the Citation 5.0
The 5.0 may be turned fully on by either pressing the large Standby button 2 just above the Master
Power button 1on the front panel, or by pressing either the W atch button Ťor the Listen button �
on the remote control. Pressing any of the six Analog Inputor six Digital Inputdirect-address buttons
under the sliding door on the remote control will also turn the 5.0 on, while selecting the program
whose number was pressed. Note that pressing the Standby button � on the remote control WILL
NOTturn the 5.0 on, although it willreturn it to the Standby condition when your listening or viewing
session is completed.
As the 5.0 turns on, the word in the Power Indicator5 on the front panel will
glow a soft blue, the green standby indicator will extinguish, and a welcome screen (Figure OSD-16)
will brie�y appear on the video screen, if it is on. A similar display will also appear on the front panel
(Figure FPD-1), changing in a few seconds to a status report (Figure FPD-2) indicating the program
selected, its source, the Surround mode selected and present volume setting.

To put the 5.0 back in the Standby mode, either press the front panel Standby button 2 or press
the Standby button � on the remote control. A message of POWEROFF � STANDBY will
appear brie�y both on the on-screen display (Figure OSD-17) and the front panel display (Figure
FPD-3). The Power Indicator5 will go out, and the green Standby LED6 will light.
